There are many defects or abnormalities which nutritionists believe may be traced to a deficiency of certain nutrients. Minor eye problems can respond to a nutritional programme but the best advice has to be to employ preventative measures.

Night Blindness:

  • Vitamin A 7500iu daily - poor vision at night is usually caused by a deficiency of vitamin A resulting from malnutrition, malabsorption or liver disease.
  • Anthocyanidins e.g. Grape seed, bilberry can significantly improve darkness adaptation.
  • Cataracts: Click here for detailed information.

    Conjunctivitis:
Inflammation of the eye, which becomes red, is usually caused by an infection or allergy (e.g. pollen). Antibiotic drops are usually prescribed for treatment but for recurring cases oral vitamin C can be useful.

  • Vitamin C 1-2grams daily
  • Echinacea purpurea 1000mg twice daily for antibacterial properties.
  • Red Eyelids:
